My Resident Evil Afterlife Review

Resident Evil Afterlife.... review, I'll keep it short and simple.

So it was Raya 1st day, I got not much stuff to do, so I go out and manage to buy 1 ticket (TGV). So this movie is entirely film with 3D gadget James Cameron use in Avatar. So if you really wanna enjoy this movie, go for the 3D screening, there's a lot of shot that was meant to be viewed in 3D, and if you're in 2D screening, you'll get annoyed by those slow motion flying bullets and debris.

The Story: I'm a huge fan of Resident Evil game since RE1 back in 1997. But after that Mortal Kombat director decided to screw up the franchise's core storyline in RE1 movie, I lost respect for him. Its OK, just treat this RE as standalone movie, its still good. OK, the story starts where RE Extinction left of, Alice breaking in Umbrella secret lab, destroying it, fly around the plane looking for survivor and then old team meet up, Claire reunite with her brother Chris, fight some baddies and escape from hell. Not much of a major plot stuff. Score 2/5

The Sound/Music: Music is like all other RE movies... rock stuff, techno stuff, RE movie themes, but the sound... the sound is good. You can hear glass shatters, bullets flying, explosion stuffs. Score 3/5

The Cast: Ali Larter, Milla is great in this one especially Ali Larter. Wentworth Miller, well, kinda OK for the role of Claire's brother Chris Redfield (major character in RE game franchise) Kim Coates is well if you're familiar with his acting, you should know this one isn't any difference. Score 3/5

The Good:
- nice effects and zombie make up
- Chris Redfield is in the movie
- Claire Redfield is awesome
- Jill Valentine's cameo after credit (don't go out cinema yet, stay for this)
- Executioner (guy with giant axe) from RE5 game
- Zombies that look like Manjini from the game

The Bad:
- This movie is starting to look more like The Thing+Mad Max/Omega Man+Zombie movies
- The slow motion effects that happens everywhere and its annoying in 2D screening
- They say there is a sequel to this movie...
- Weak storyline
- zombies screen time in this movie is lesser. (not counting the CG of millions out there)
- Lots of boring gunfight, due to the slow motion, you literally have to wait 2 seconds to see the bullets flying to target's head

So the final score is - 2.5/5

I still think for RE movies RE2 is the best of the series.

Piranha was okay, too violent. I'm sure lots of head decapitation, scalp pull off all censored.
