Tron Legacy... Review (spoiler Free)

OK, Tron... many Gen Y kids nowadays don't even know this movie exist... It was the movie of my time, back when I was little, I saw this movie on TV once, I don't know what they're talking about but the special effects are super cool, that was late 80's. I was lucky to pick that up in the late 90's the VCD, finally understand what the buzz about. Being in the IT college, everything in Tron are familiar, coz its almost like what we studies.

The story of Tron, Kevin Flynn the program designer, because of his games code were stollen by Edward Dillinger, and Ed became famous and appointed as CEO of ENCOM, Flynn was then left out, and he later ran a local arcade centre. Some problem with the MCP of the ENCOM mainframe, Alan decided to turn to Flynn for help. So they went to the laser lab, a device with ability transfer an object into digital format. MCP fires the laser and brought Flynn into the computer world, where he met Tron & Yori. So they fight the MCP and end up winning and shutting down the MCP from further trying to control the whole network. Return to real world and became the CEO of ENCOM.

Tron 2 starts of years after that, Flynn is trying to do something different, and his creation Clu, turn against him... the plot is like Matrix, Planet of the Apes, kinda thing, the creation turns against the creator and rule over the world the creator created.

I give this movie a 8/10. Its a fun movie, Jeff Bridges is bringing Kevin Flynn back! The Flynn's Arcade is exact the same as the first one, with 80's songs and Pac Man. The CGI effects all look damn good. The Light cycle and the disc combat looks updated from first movie. the 2 leg flying shuttle thingy looks cooler than the first one, the first one kinda look like Galaga's enemy ship.

Olivia Wilde (Number 13 in House tv series), is the reason I love this movie. She's like the Ceasar in Planet of the Apes but with better master. A program that has their own AI, think and feel like human, its called ISO in this movie. The suit they wore is sexy, and Daft Punk are in it, but wearing a helmet. Sam Flynn(Garret Hedlund), Kevin's son was okay in this movie. The costume designer did a good job designing clothes for Kevin Flynn, coz he look just like a Jedi Master in that robe, also he can do cool things, since he's the creator of the Grid world.

Lastly, the digital youngnification of Jeff Bridges as Tron 1 film, and Clu. I must say the effects team didn't do perfect enough, coz some expression look fake, like a plastic. but kudos to them too, able to pull that off. I must say its fun to see Jeff Bridges in his young age appearance. I miss those looks in Fisher King, Star Man, King Kong, Fearless.

I think I'm gonna get the Blu Ray video of this film when it release in Speedy.

VERDICT -
Sound - 10/10
Visual - 10/10
Acting - 8/10
Story - 8/10

My next To Watch List:

I recently watched Gothika again and Charlie Bartlet (just because Kat Dennings in it and it stars Anton Yelchin as titular character... the film also stars RDJ as Kat's father)... So this mark the transition from Seth Rogen -> Emma Stone -> Michael Cera -> Kat Dennings to RDJ week. Since I already bought Iron Man 2 I'll settle few of his old movies.
so this will be my to watch list this week:

Chaplin (saw this movie long time ago, that's how I know RDJ exist)
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Tropic Thunder
Zodiac

Michael Cera week

This week is been a fuck load of shitty work, since my assistant bailed on me. So after last week of having a good time watching Easy A, This week its kinda whole week of Michael Cera & Judd Apatow movie marathon.

First there is this movie called Scott Pilgrim vs the world, starring Michael Cera a Canadian actor, its kinda nonsense but entertaining movie. Its like watching American made Stephen Chow movies. Then there is this movie called Knocked Up, starring Kat Heigl, about a girl got drunk and did a one night stand with a slacker (Seth Rogen) Dumb movie, but damn funny. So later I went for Zack & Miri make a porno, now this movie is special, Seth Rogen again playing a slacker this time with a girl living in a poor apartment, with outstanding bills and all, they're broke. So after that they decided to do a porn movie just to pay off the bills and everything. Movie is funny and Elizabeth Banks from Spiderman movie series stars.

After Zack & Miri, I move to teen flick, Superbad. I only watch this movie because Emma Stone, Bill Hader and Seth Rogen in it. This is probably the funniest movie I've ever watch. It stars Micheal Cer, Jonah Hill as the main character, trying to get a fake ID just to buy booze to impress the girls in the high school. Michael Cera's bad phone call reception moment was hilarious. Then I move on with The Hangover, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and then Role Model.

Yesterday, I decide to give Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist a shot. It stars Michael Cera (again) and Kat Dennings. I love this actress, I think for a emotionless actress she is far better than Kristen Stewart 100 times. So this movie is about Nick who was dumped by his girlfriend, but still hasn't given up on her, kept compiling songs for her and she throws away all of it. Norah picked it up and liked the compilation. So one night they happen to meet each other in a crazy talent show, Nick's ex shows up with a guy and then making fun of Norah, and then she happens to pick Nick as her pretend BF just to brush off her. So two of them got together and hangout, some nice stuff happens, you just got to see this movie.

I'm done downloading Funny People now, line slow and its 12am midnight. I hope its a great movie, coz its the 3rd Judd Apatow movie with Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Adam Sandler, Leslie Mann, and Eric Bana in it. For those who don't know, Eric Bana start out as a comedian like Adam Sandler. He just got into serious roles as he move to Hollywood movies. So watching Bana doing comedy again is kinda nice.

I would recommend all the above mentioned movies, they're funny like hell, and most of them are certified fresh in Rottentomatoes.com. I like watching movie using 6 degree of kevin bacon style... its like you watch Emma Stone (Easy A, House Bunny,Superbad) then Seth Rogen (Knocked up, Superbad, Zack Miri) and then Michael Cera (Superbad, Nick Norah, Scott pilgrim) and then Kat Dennings (House Bunny, Nick Norah, Defendor) they are all connected to each other...
